Please consider helping to protect against theft by recording the serial number of any item that you recently purchased or were given.

For a smartphone, screenshot the “about this phone” to get the serial number, IMEI etc. If the phone is lost/stolen, the IMEI can be blacklisted to render it useless to thieves.

For a laptop, write down the exact model number and serial, usually etched into the bottom. If you can, also get the hardware addresses of the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ethernet adaptors. You will find these in the settings. They are hard to change, so even if someones scrapes off the physical serial number, the laptop can still be identified. You can also do this with a tablet.

For a bicycle, record the frame number, take some photos, register it at bikeregister.com. Get a Gold Standard Lock. Maybe get your postcode stamped into the frame.
